With so many companies laying off recruiters, the market doesn’t look very good. Most of the companies are hiring very selectively and waiting for the economy to improve before they hire recruiters. Many of my recruiter friends are looking for jobs. All this has made me do some soul searching.
Has the market reached a plateau for recruiters? Is it time to make a move in another direction? I am passionate about recruiting. Its more than just a job for me. It’s a way of life. I love talking to people and this job pays for that. But then, the economic down turn, has made me rethink my career priorities. It brings to the mind type writers. They were so popular before computers took over. In the current market, even if someone is the best typist, they still would be obsolete, won’t be able to find a decent job.
Maybe it’s time to move on. Move on to HR, or marketing? HR’s always been exciting to me. Marketing will be a new frontier, more challenging. I find both intriguing. My major is HR. Wouldn’t every recruiter Try to move to HR? Wouldn’t HR get flooded with people who don’t really care about the essence but just want to have a job, any job? So many questions. Does anyone have the real answer?
